Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's initial attempts at becoming a star in the mainstream failed. Perry has been signed by 2 distinct record companies, but dropped prior to releasing any material. Capitol Records however released Perry's EP Ur So Gay in 2007. Ur So Gay's title track was a jolly and sly track that received little notice. "I Kissed" a Girl was a more assertive ode sexism with a sharp edged electro-pop rhythm. The song caused controversy many critics claiming that it promoted homosexual relationships, and some asserting that the explicit sexual scenario depicted was designed for sexual fantasies of males. I Kissed a Girl, an enthralling combination of sexual satire with a refined melody helped I Kissed a Girl to achieve the number one spot across the world and boost sales of her 2008 album, One of the Boys. Hot N Cold was a hit in America, and the second track on the album Hot N Cold with its sharp tongued bouncy beat also was a hit.
